Position Title: Family Services Manager

 

The Family Services Manager will familiarize potential applicants with program requirements and the homeownership process. This person will recruit and maintain case files of partner families and Habitat homeowners. The Family Services Manager will be the point of contact for all homeowner families and will mentor each family through the home buyer process. This position will also be part of the design and implementation of an affiliate post purchase program to help new Habitat homeowner families in the years after their home purchase.

 

Duties:

 

  • Community Outreach to raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity home building opportunities

  • Advocacy with other community groups to promote fair housing policies and encourage underserved members of our community to seek home ownership

  • Respond to calls and emails inquiring about homeownership in a timely manner, and promptly provide information packets to prospective applicants

  • Assist the Family Services Committee in the review and processing of applications

  • Conduct applicant orientations and assist families in the completion of the housing application

  • Orientation and guidance of families selected as partner families

  • Tracking of family compliance with program requirements

  • Collecting documentation to assist with mortgage closings

  • Feedback and assistance in designing a future post purchase education program

 

 

Time Commitment: Full time, salaried. This position will have great flexibility with the ability to work remotely and from our administrative office. The position will work approximately forty hours per week with occasional evenings or weekend engagements to accommodate the recruitment and assistance of partner families.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge and passion for the mission of Habitat for Humanity

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook/Word/Excel)

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines as part of a team

  • Ability to welcome and work with diverse populations

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail oriented and highly organized

  • Experience with public speaking and social media

Position Title: Build Site Supervisor

 

Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh Inc is looking for someone interested in learning all facets of home construction and working with Habitat volunteers and families.  Build your construction skills while directly impacting housing in the Oshkosh area.  Construction experience is preferred but not required. This position will be salaried.  Work will be mainly at Habitat build sites in Oshkosh area or our construction office at 2559 Badger Avenue.   

Key Responsibility Areas:

  1. Ensure safety standards. In conjunction with Construction Manager, maintain a current list of safety rules and practices to be followed on Habitat Oshkosh construction sites.

  2. Ensure that all Habitat Oshkosh volunteers understand these rules and practices before they enter construction sites.

  3. Teach the safe and correct way to use all tools and equipment. Maintain an emergency plan in case of accidents. Maintain construction sites in an orderly, safe manner.

  4. Supervise volunteer labor to ensure that volunteers have a safe, productive, fun building experience with Habitat Oshkosh regardless of their skill level.

  5. Establish work teams for each work site, teach volunteers how to do the task safely and efficiently, teach them how to use appropriate tools, and guide their work to ensure safety and quality. Maintain a flow of tasks that will make good use of volunteers’ time, engaging them as soon as possible after they arrive on site and keeping them productively busy throughout the day.

  6. Improve the technical and leadership skills of longer-term volunteers by providing training and mentoring.

  7. Consulting with Construction Manager whenever a technical question or problem arises on site if there is uncertainty about the answer. Train core task leaders in these approved methods of construction (“training the trainers”) as well as communicate them to one-time volunteer groups.

  8. Materials and Tasks Order and/or pick up materials necessary for construction tasks, coordinating with the Construction Manager. Ensure all necessary materials and tools are available on building sites at the time they are needed.

  9. Work with the Construction Manager and Programs Manager to identify work plans on assigned sites to match groups of volunteers with upcoming tasks.

  10. Participate in regular planning meetings, as called by the Construction Manager. 

Time Commitment: Full-time, Salaried, generally 8:00am-4:30pm M-F

Preferred Experience:

  1. Willing to work in a team atmosphere

  2. Managerial experience

  3. Experience working with or leading volunteers or groups of people

  4. Two years’ experience in home construction, home rehabilitation, or relatable skills

  5. Familiarity with construction site safety

  6. A current Driver's license with clean driving record

  7. Demonstrate a desire to support Habitat’s mission

  8. Good interpersonal skills and patience
