Position Title: Construction Site Supervisor (on-going recruitment)
Reports To Construction Manager. Works with Directors and Program Managers to ensure a consistent experience for staff, partner families, and volunteers throughout the Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh organization. Salary $50,000-$55,000 a year.

Designation: Full-time, Salaried $50,000-$55,000 per year.

Schedule: Generally, five days a week / 8:00am-4:30pm / including one Saturday a month as needed

Position Summary:
Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh (HFHO) is seeking a Construction Site Supervisor who would be responsible for the daily oversight of construction volunteers and the completion of tasks in Habitat's local Homebuyer Program (new construction), Rock the Block Program (neighborhood revitalization/exterior home repair) and any other construction task that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
-
3 years minimum experience in residential frame and/or finish carpentry (Required)

Verifiable experience (Required)

Production construction experience (Preferred)
-
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents (Preferred)

Familiar with current building codes (Preferred)
-
The ability to work within a team environment (Required)
-
Management or supervisory experience (Preferred)
-
The ability to receive and provide instruction (Required)
-
The ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary (Required)
-
Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of safety hazards (Required)

Must be able to complete the Safety Awareness/Competent Person Certification course from Habitat within the first month of hire (Required)

Knowledge and compliance with OSHA standards (training will be provided)

Ability and willingness to work with a diverse group of volunteers (Required)
-
Ability to teach and coach volunteers on the worksite (Required)
-
Strong people skills, patient, and tact in motivating volunteers (Required)

Ability to step back and let volunteers do the work (Required)

Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and insurable under HFHO's automobile insurance policy (Required)

Must pass a Criminal Background Check and a Sexual Offender Check (Required)

Wear and maintain personal protective equipment provided or required (Required)

The ability to operate vehicles, trailers, and power equipment (Required)

The ability to use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word (Required)
Physical Requirements to Perform Duties:
-
Activities require maintaining the physical condition necessary for lifting up to 75 pounds regularly, the ability to work on wet or uneven surface, and the physical agility necessary to construct a home.

Must be able to stand for a long period of time, sit, kneel, climb ladders, and climb scaffolding.

Must be able to communicate clearly.

Must be physically able and willing to work indoors and outdoors in Wisconsin weather throughout all seasons.
General / Administrative Responsibilities:
-
Create and maintain an understanding and commitment to the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh.
-
Complete and maintain safety certifications.
-
Prepare and submit daily construction documents.
-
Follow Construction schedule.
-
Communicate daily with the Construction manager to ensure proper materials are ordered and available to keep jobs moving smoothly.
-
Provide daily report to the construction manager about construction progress and sub-contractor activities.
-
Regularly submit construction expenses to Construction Manager and allocate build costs to appropriate worksite.
-
Participant in weekly construction team meetings.
-
Attend Habitat for Humanity of Oshkosh events (including but not limited to annual fundraiser, conferences, neighborhood meetings) when required.

Regularly monitor and respond to electronic communications regarding HFHO business.

Assist Construction Manager with continuous improvements and to the Build Department processes.
Job Site Responsibilities:
-
Create and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy worksite by adhering to and enforcing safety policies.
-
Prepare sites daily before volunteers arrive to ensure productive day.
-
Lead / supervise construction tasks.
-
Provide training for volunteers including crew leaders and partner families.
-
Ensure that communication with volunteers and partner homeowners is respectful, accurate, and timely.
-
Provide a safe, productive, and enjoyable experience for volunteers.
-
Understand the elements that contribute to successful volunteer experiences.
-
Help ensure that volunteers have a consistently positive experience thus motivating them to return.
-
Conduct daily safety training with volunteers.
-
Gives clear direction and sets a consistent standard of acceptable craftsmanship.
-
Respond to specific skills and interests of the individual volunteers.
-
Check volunteers’ work and provide positive feedback so jobs are completed correctly.
-
Foster positive homeowner / volunteer interactions, include homeowner in process.
-
Physically assist with construction process and repair workmanship when needed.

Ensure that the work assigned to you is completed in a timely manner.
